Hi Linda,

With James Lee Burke, I suggest starting with Heaven's Prisoners
and then move on to Black Cherry Blues then A Stained White Radiance.
I can't remember the progression of the rest, but it's better, though not completely necessary, to read
his books in order.

I've been reading Winter's End by John Rickards.  So far so good.

Just finished up Mother Earth News (magazine), Archaeology (ditto mag), and Vogue Knitting (trippo??).

Ok, for actual reading, finished The Traveller and have to agree with Lucy that the writing style was kind of bland.  However, I did like the ideas behind the story a great deal, if that makes sense.  Made me think of Stephen King's Paranoid: A Chant the whole time.  It feels like this generation's version of The Illuminatus! triology (albeit without the wild sex scenes and massive acid dropping).

Now rereading The Last Ship by William Brinkley.  The man has a vocabulary that would make a MENSA member feel like a complete dolt, but I love the precision with which he uses words (even if I do need to grab a dictionary from time to time to see if a word means what the sentence seems to imply it means).

After that, on to Chocolat, one of my last library book sale buys.

Someone dig my eyes out with a shoe horn.  I'm three chapters into "PHP and MySQL Web Development" and I swear no matter what I read, all it says is, "abandon hope all ye who enter here...abandon hope all ye who enter here...abandon hope all ye who enter here...abandon hope all ye who enter here...abandon hope all ye who enter here..."

Gee Josh, would you like to borrow my Vogue Knitting?  That should make a pleasant change, right? Roll Eyes

Right, so now I'm reading "Papillon" and it's a bit of a struggle but I'll persevere (I've been glued to "Prison Break" on tv and I think I'm just prisonned out!) and "The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton because I was in NY fairly recently and I love the whole society thing.  This forum will be the end of me because I keep writing down titles of books I have to read! (But thank you all!)

Currently reading End in Tears by Ruth Rendell.
I'd be interested to hear an opinion without giving too much away, norby.  Smiley
You may to post elsewhere to let me know!

I'm currently three quarters of the way through Angels & Demons by Dan Brown.

What do you think of Angels & Demons?  I thought it was much better than DaVinci.  But I mentioned on Sandra's website I thought DaVinci was overrated.

I'm not too far into the Rendell, hope to read more  today.  Let you know more later!

I thought Angels and Demons was by far the better book also.  I've only read the 2 books by Dan Brown, I wasn't too bothered by the blurb on the back of the others.

Just finished End in Tears by Ruth Rendell-very good book.  There's some drama in Wexford's personal life, which is a little unusual, at least at the level of this drama.

Now reading The Sugar House by Laura Lippman.
