G H O S T    S T O R I E S Supernatural fiction was the first genre in which I ever immersed myself as a young reader. I was particularly fascinated by the 19th and early 20th century short story writers of the British tradition, by and large, and when it came to writing my own mystery novels it didn't seem so strange to me to want to include elements of the supernatural in them. Later, I wrote some ghost stories of my own for the BBC, and gradually they became the basis for the Nocturnes collection. Below are a couple of those stories, including two that didn't make the final volume but were added to the paperback edition.
