This is probably the most comprehensive interview with John, and January has a particularly good crime section. John's short story, The Man From The Second Fifteen, is in their August/September 2004 issue! This is a very good UK-based website for fans of noir fiction. Accessible through Google, this is a fabulous forum for exchanging views and opinions with readers, booksellers and authors. They're a nice bunch. Give it a try... The Pinetop Seven is led by a man named Darren Richard. John used some of his lyrics in The White Road, and thinks his group is superb. Eye on Books does audio interviews with many authors, including John. A reference of Flagstone wines has found its way into each of the novels since The Killing Kind. I met Bruce Jack, Flagstone's owner, while on tour in South Africa, after Bruce provided the wine for one of my events. Basically, it's just great stuff, and can be found in Oddbins in Britain and Ireland, Vintage in Australia, and various outlets in Europe and the US. The Music Room Cab Sauv is lovely, as are the Jack & Knox Green on Green Semillon, the Two Roads Chardonnay and just about anything else with the Flagstone name attached. David Torrans's fabulous mystery store in Belfast is an essential stop for Irish and international mystery writers, and houses a great range of American and British titles. It's also one of the best places in the country for signed editions of John's books. Hughes & Hughes is a family-run chain of Irish bookstores, with a good website. A very well-maintained mystery review site, where John has his own page... Great mystery-related website by one of the most perceptive critics around. Good mystery website, based in Oregon Deadly Pleasures is one of the best mystery magazines in the world, and this is its website. Nothing more needs to be said. Previously an Internet-only store, Goldsboro now occupies a compact, treasure-filled store on Cecil Court in London, specialising in signed first editions, particularly mystery books. David and Daniel are the guys in charge, and their website is particularly good.
