Dear Reader,
It's been a fraught few months on a personal level but, thankfully, we seem to be emerging at the other end only marginally more bruised than before, which definitely has to count as a victory. Welcome distraction arrived in the form of the kindness of those who attended the Irish and UK events for THE INSTRUMENTS OF DARKNESS, and the booksellers and librarians who acted as gracious hosts. I’ll be dipping a toe in promotional waters one more time next weekend—Aer Lingus pilot strikes permitting—of which more below. Meanwhile, we also have news of the second book in English for this year, a limited edition to which I’ve contributed an introduction, and—well, read on and all shall be revealed . . .

As noted above, I'm grateful to the readers, booksellers, and librarians who supported the Irish and UK events for THE INSTRUMENTS OF DARKNESS, and to the US booksellers who made signed books and bookmarks available to their customers. It’s always good to see you all—well, most of you. Some of you scare me.
The interest in my Hotel OdysseyTM photographs on Instagram and Twitter is gratifying, and improves even the most dispiriting accommodations. If my discomfort entertains you, it’s all worthwhile*, isn’t it? (*May not all be worthwhile, as those of you who bore witness to my digs in Letchworth can confirm.)
