A week from today — Tuesday, June 2 — A RIVER RED WITH BLOOD will officially be on sale throughout the United States and Canada. Thank you, North American readers, for your patience, and thank you, Irish and British readers, for the warm welcome you’ve given the 23rd Charlie Parker novel. It’s my 40th book in total (depending on how ones counts) which seems like rather a lot. I feel like I should be paying rent for the space I occupy on some of your bookshelves. Still, I don’t eat much, and I’m relatively clean . . .

I’m grateful to the Irish booksellers who welcomed me during my abbreviated tour earlier this month. Apologies again for not being able to get to the mainland UK or North America. We have ambitious plans afoot for next year, if that’s any consolation.

Should you be looking for signed copies of A RIVER RED WITH BLOOD and the signed map of Parker’s Maine, The Gutter Bookshop and Alan Hanna’s Bookshop in Dublin, O’Mahony’s in Limerick, Kenny’s in Galway, No Alibis in Belfast, and Goldsboro Books in London should be able to supply them, and all those stores ship worldwide.

A RIVER RED WITH BLOOD finds Parker looking for answers behind the death of a teenaged boy who’d run away from an institution for troubled youth in the woods of Maine, while a group of men stalk and kill vulnerable women around the country in a ritual they call The Game.

Reviews for the book continue to be enthusiastic, with Booklist calling it “once again, superb.” You can read an excerpt here (click on “read a chapter”).
